Helping the Manatees
One Septic Upgrade at A Time!
Learn more about the increasing challenges of wastewater treatment.
Our environment faces numerous challenges, including the impact of inadequately treated wastewater effluent. This pollution harms surface and groundwater quality, disrupts ecosystems, and negatively affects plant and animal life. One visible consequence is the alarming rise in blue-green algae blooms and red tide events.
At RioVation®, we are dedicated to creating a
positive environmental impact by providing innovative and cost-effective onsite
wastewater treatment solutions.
NOTE: As a for-profit enterprise dedicated to developing innovative wastewater treatment solutions,
RioVation® is strongly committed to tackling the vital issues like those found in the news items and information below.
We are not involved in lobbying nor are we affiliated with any environmental group.

Save the Manatee
Studies have shown that untreated septic is contributing to the pollution of water ways, ground water and is producing toxic environments for plant and animal life.
Some States and Countys are now introducing regulations to stop the pollution. Regulations that will require home owners to connect to municipal sewer or upgrade their septic system to comply with new laws. Jan 4, 2022

Federal judge rejects Florida's attempt to stop manatee death lawsuit
By Maria Serrano Orlando
The lawsuit involves wastewater discharges there, alleging it has led to seagrass dying, and manatees dying from starvation.
A NEW Issue is affecting Countys - No place to dump septic from Pump Trucks.
POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk County is facing a septic waste crisis. About 300,000 homes and businesses use septic tanks.
- BS Ranch & Farm Inc., the only facility in Polk County that disposes of human waste has shut down. Now haulers have nowhere nearby to get rid of septage. It’s a problem haulers said they warned county leaders would happen.
- “Well, we were here a year ago. We said this day was going to come. Here it is,” said Jeff Mann, owner of Mann Septic.

BioMaze® uses biological processes that work with nature—not against it—to address these issues and more, directly in the tank where treatment is most effective.
Treating in the Soil vs Treating in the Tank
- Up to 50% of U.S. soils are unsuitable for proper soil-based treatment.
- Soil conditions are unpredictable and affected by hostile climates.
- Most drainfields develop biomat over time and fail; the EPA estimates a drainfield lifespan of 15–20 years.
- Additional system loads can exceed design capacity, leading to hydraulic overload.
- Tank-Based Treatment Advantages:
- Controlled and predictable environment.
- Point-source verifiable—easily monitored and tested.
- BioMaze® prevents failures and restores biomat-clogged drainfields.
Why are We Planning to Fail?
- Current septic system site plans require a "designated replacement area" for future drainfield failures.
- Reserve areas are protected land, ensuring usability when failures occur.
- BioMaze® offers a proactive alternative to premature drainfield replacement.
